I am Brian Chuk

Hey. I'm a junior at New York University.

I've had the privelege of working as a developer evangelist for Syncano and previously a hackNY Fellow & Software Engineering intern for Betterpath. Last summer, I was an intern for augmented reality power tool startup Shaper Tools. I've also built robots for work & research and have done some freelance jobs. Outside of work, you can find me building projects I find meaningful.

This website is my playground.
It's a sandbox for the work I create, and a home for my writing. It's a journal for my past, and a forecast for my future.

I'm currently a Computer Science Major in the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. A couple courses that I have taken are Object Oriented Programming and Data Structures & Algorithms.

As of now, most of what I've learned in programming has come from self-teaching. I'm a strong believer in learning by doing and taking education into your own hands.

Syncano is a scalable Data as a Service that allows developers to build mobile and web apps with only front-end code. With Syncano, devs can easily build complex data models and sync them across any device in real-time.

Syncano helps developers focus on their more strategic initiatives so that they don't have to worry about the scaling, syncing and other heavy lifting required in building and deploying modern apps.

The hackNY Fellows program pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment: a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work.

Students enjoy free housing together over the course of 10 weeks and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup.

Betterpath combines what's happened in your medical history with what's happening in your life. For people with IBD and other chronic diseases, Betterpath combines medical data with self-reported experience to build a better health story. Betterpath helps people with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and other chronic conditions get better, sooner - through a combination of access, ownership and participation.

As people with chronic disease use Betterpath, their anonymized health information aggregates and potentially contributes to insights that drive better treatment outcomes.
